Event Space & Murals

The guiding principle behind The Allgire Project is Myrtle and John’s belief in community. A longtime civic activist, Sarah longed to give Oak Harbor residents and visitors access to a shared space for cultural development, exchange, and community events. John was an art hobbyist and supporter of the local art community, and Myrtle loved colors, textures, and fashion, so turning the property’s outdoor space into an outdoor mural project and community event venue felt like the perfect tribute.

The mural project, which spans 13 different walls on the Allgire Project site, has been Sarah’s labor of love. After hiring Seattle-based Overall Creative to help her find the artists and manage their work, she received over 100 proposals from muralists from around the world. Celebrated Seattle muralist Lina Cholewinski did the first mural by hand, and since then, nine artists have contributed to the first of many series of rotating murals that will remain on the walls for up to two years.

We all know murals make for great Instagram posts, but they’re even better for bringing people together. Perfect for anything from farmers’ markets and concerts to weddings and private events, the space draws a mix of locals and tourists and serves as a colorful reflection of the vibrant community it represents and serves. Think of it as the “Wynwood Walls” of Washington State.

We’re flexible and open-minded, so if you have an idea and are interested in renting the space, view our event rental options below or reach out to us here.
